Monday 21st February

Dry, cold and windy – lightened by some sunshine.

The farrier was here to do Smokey’s feet. And Dan and I took hay to East Pitkerro, along with some Spot-on, so hopefully the itching will stop. Most of the bare bits now have hair on them so fingers crossed.

Regular readers will know that Monday is my office day, but it was so cold, I had to move back to the dining room table. We have a small electric heater in the office and Dan, rightly, decided to put it on the timer – except he turned it off instead. Hopefully, it will be better tomorrow – for him. I’ll be doing something else.

Wednesday 23rd February

Our planned dog sledding session didn’t go ahead because of the weather.

Thursday 24th February

We have snow – well, we did. Heavy at 7am, gone by lunchtime. And another bloody fence post broken in Sheepfold. They just don’t last.

Friday 25th February

The in-lamb ewes are now being fed twice a day – they’re very enthusiastic. We’re just having to compromise on the amount of feed, because of the range of breeds and litter size. I wouldn’t feed single bearing Ryeland or Shetland ewes, but I think the BFL will take it. I’d be more worried if she was a gimmer, but she’s lambed before, so hopefully she’ll be OK.

Saturday 26th February

Dan and I went to Murrayfield with friends to watch Scotland v France. And that is all I will say.

Saw a toad this evening, bless ‘im (or ‘er).

Sunday 27th February

Lovely sun – Thomas was enjoying baking in his basket.

Dan got the gate up, so the back garden is now secure for the dogs. I love the aspect along the walkway past the sunken garden.

And a photo of Smokey, just because.
