Smallholding

Although a large part of smallholding is about the produce - meat, vegetables, fruit, fleece, and so on - running a smallholding effectively and efficiently requires a wide range of skills and techniques. These can take years to develop (as we've found!) so advice and mentoring from experienced smallholders and farmers is a tremendous help, as is sharing experiences with others.

In this section you'll find resources to help with the practical and business aspects of smallholding - equipment, skills and techniques, buildings maintenance, fencing, land management, paperwork, and so on.

The TAS forums are a great place to find answers, and to seek advice when you're stuck. There is almost always someone who has been there and done it before, so ff you can't find what you're looking for just ask!
