Tomorrow is Kirriemuir Show, which is our local agricultural show. At the moment, the weather forecast isn't too promising but hopefully it will improve in the next 24 hours :-) The show was cancelled three years ago and it cost them a huge amount of money - hard to recover from that but they have.

We're taking Annie and Rosie; they're entered in the "Other Native Breed" section of the cattle show. Last year, the "Other Native Breeds" were combined with the Aberdeen Angus, which didn't go down very well but to be fair to the organisers, the previous year, there was only us.

Annie and Rosie are in a class each; Annie is in Clas 84 heifer born on or after 1.1.12 and before 1.1.13 and Rosie is in Class 86 Bull or heifer calf born on or after 1.1.14. I wasn't sure if Annie should be in Class 83 cow in milk or in calf, born before 1.1.12 because she is in milk but was born June 2012 - so I left it to the Secretary :-)

I confess our preparations are rather simple. We brought them in on Wednesday and have been getting Rosie used to the halter - she's doing very well, I think. I gave Annie's horns a wee sand this morning and a scrub and I'll do them again later; she's had a "blanket bath" of the really shitty bits but I don't really want to be bathing her. Rosie will get the dirty bits washed. Both had a good brush yesterday.

On the day, I'll oil Annie's horns and I might rub some oil over the black bits of her coat. Or I might not. None of that will change the shape of her udder or her conformation or her movement. She's such a sweetheart :-)

Dan's cutting grass because it's dry but forecast to rain and if it gets too long, the mower struggles a bit. We've got friends coming to stay in the caravan today, for a week, so I've been sorting that out. The list has been a bit neglected this week as other demands have come along but we're making progress :-)

If you are in the area tomorrow, come along to the Show and say hello!
