We recieved a card through the mail today from our veterinary practice, following Copper's death. I though I was pretty together but the verse in it just broke me up. It's by Isla Paschal Richardson:

...Grieve not,

nor speak of me with tears,

but laugh and talk of me,

as if I were beside you...

I loved you so -

'twas Heaven here with you.

Well.... that got the waterworks flowing but in a good way. We still talk about our old boys like that so I had a flood of happy thoughts washed in with tears. Lovely verse & a kind thought from the vets. Why is it that vets have a better 'bed side' manner than many doctors?

I don't know. We have two vet practices - one for the pets and one for the horse (our "pet" practice doesn't do equine work any more). Both are really good - patient, explain things and so on.

Could it be because we could just go elsewhere? Or because we pay them? When Cass was diagnosed with a heart murmur, there was no waiting list - it was "when would suit you to see the cardiologist?" Or maybe animals and their owners are better patients than humans.

What a thoughtful sweet Vet you have! Our Vet here in LaPine made a paw print for us out of plaster, just before our dog passed away. It is good to know they are caring even after death!!
