So, it’s Thursday and I haven’t written anything in my diary for this week, but here goes.

Monday 30th September

This is easy, because we drove to Newtonmore to visit the Highland Fok Museum – well worth a visit, would recommend. The weather started grey but the cloud broke and we had blue skies and sunshine. Then up to Inverness for a disappointing Indian meal (naan bread out of a packet) and an overnight.

Friends Jeni and Jo were housesitting – a trial run for February, when we go to Gran Canaria.

Tuesday 1st October

Visited with Tim and Beth Rose at Birchwood Croft. Known them for years and am full of admiration at what that have achieved from a bare section of land. Also collected a 10kg Shetland beef box.

Picked up the Festival rosettes at Sillyflatt Farm Shop (also highly recommend) and home.

Housesitters happy – which is very good news. Bryn has a new fan.

Wednesday 2nd October

Now, what did I do yesterday? Emails. 72 in 36 hours and only about 10 were what could be classed as junk mail. Did some Festival stuff.

Thursday 3rd October

Cold and damp this morning, with a ground frost but by 10am, the sun was out and it turned into a glorious autumn day. Completely still, for a change.

Vet Andrea was here this morning to take blood from Mickey and to carry on with his dental treatment. He needs sedated, unlike Smokey who happily stands for dental work – and his head was so heavy. For him and me. He has quite a lot of missing teeth, so the ones opposite overgrow because they have nothing to grind on. Things are improving though. Andrea had a quick look at Smokey’s but they were pretty good. He still has all his molars and none are wobbly, but he has no teeth up top at the front.

Next job was to sort through the rosettes for the Festival, that I picked up on Tuesday. All fine and sorted out for the Stewards. Then some work to finish the timetable, update the catalogue.

My new 2025 diary came. Going to keep this one tidy.

And we (Dan) managed to secure tickets for Billy Joel at Murrayfield. So excited. Already.

Friday 4th October

OMG. We found the wristbands for the Festival. I have been swearing blind that they were not at Dalmore. And we found them today. In an unexpected place, for sure, but it’s definitely them. Hey ho. Just as well Martin has a sense of humour.

Saturday 5th October

Happy birthday to our daughter, Lorna!

We were down to the Bein Inn at Glenfarg for lunch with RBST Scotland friends. Good to see some folk we haven’t seen for a while. Delivered the wristbands to Martin and rosettes to Moyra and John.

Dan was working this evening. I’d put the kittens to bed (his office is in their room) and he couldn’t see them as he closed up for the night. Found both of them snugged up in the cat box.

Sunday 6th October

Beautiful dawn but we had a good rain shower about 10am and it settled into drizzle for the rest of the day. Still, the ground needed it.

Watched football, read my book. Moved the sheep to Near Top. First job tomorrow is to make a list.
