Monday 17th January

Lovely day again – full sun! It made office work a bit challenging because the sun was in my eyes but no way was I shutting it out.

Vet was here early doors to do Grey’s TB test. Back on Thursday for the results. He’s from a TB4 area and a herd with no breakdowns, but can’t help being a wee bit anxious.

Finished updating our cattle website. I’m a bit of a technodullard and a technopanicker, so across the day, I’m both relieved and happy.

Tuesday 18th January

Our seed potatoes arrived today, along with some shallots (Mikor) that I had forgotten I’d ordered. I had ordered Rooster, but they weren’t available so we’ve got “Caledonian Rose” – nice name. Hope they’re good potatoes.

Wednesday 19th January

Gwenna loves an empty (to us anyway) yogurt tub. She totes it about and when she’s finished, it’s spotless.

Thursday 20th January

The vet was back this morning to check Grey’s TB test and here has been no reaction, which is just what we wanted. I’m not sure I would keep cattle if we were in a high TB risk area; our vet said he wouldn’t want to be a vet in such a location either. Must be so stressful.

The Army’s busy today – lots of big bangs from heavy artillery. The dogs not very happy, but Tara was on hand to give Bryn a reassuring cuddle.

Friday 21st January

Took a bale of hay to East Pitkerro, but they still had loads; put their Closamectin on though.

I dropped some stuff at the local charity shop yesterday and spotted a lovely teapot. Went back today – they’d moved it (just to make me momentarily disappointed) but I was able to buy it. Meet my new Aga teapot. Holds eight mugs of tea. Need to find six friends now.

I also dropped some of our yarn into local shop HAYM.

Saturday 22nd January

Busy day today. Started with Bravoxin and Closamectin for the cattle, then Bravoxin for the sheep (except the wee Shetland tup, who we couldn’t catch). Then Dan went into the fruit garden and pruned the gooseberries and the blackcurrants, while I weeded in the veg garden. I also made a start of sorting through the freezers; I should be able to shut one down now.

Sunday 23rd January

Bit colder than yesterday, dry though, with a cold wind. Dan and Andy assembled their new toy – sorry, equipment – an electric log splitter. The old one is going to a less stressful home with one of Andy’s other friends.

Our daughter, Lorna, and John and Linda came for tea, so I got to use the giant teapot. Braw.
