European coops!

Just thought I would share the attached photo - when visiting the Alpajurras recently in Spain we discovered hen keeping on the side of the road in what can only be described as a cage!

It's interesting to see how the mesh is mortared in at the bottom - I wouldn't have thought to try that.  It does look a bit cramped though.

Cramped is mostly comparative. I'm always amazed how far hens and geese roam. When i had them years ago, they'd go 250m in different directions, so a range of 500m within a day, and everywhere inbetween. Mine I have now stay around the garden, yard and sheds, maybe 2 acres.

So I feel a bit bad seeing hens in lawn runs and eglos, but they seem quite happy. Compared to battery hans, these have a penthouse suit. It's tricky to know what they need when they're so adaptable!

On the plus side, predators are not going to get them in there
