« on: November 26, 2009, 08:17:40 pm »
i've been putting off getting my chooks for a while and i've finally resolved to get them in the new year when i start my new business - as i'm gonna be tied to the house pretty much forever

anyway, was out for lunch on sunday with some friends and they announced that they are gonna get me some chooks as our engagement present.

I've just to let them knwo when i'm ready to roll

what a cool present!!! So that's it, wagons roll on getting the chooks in now

Briiliant!
We had the chooks as my husband's birthday present, and the Kunes as mine but you win hands down!

no, they are getting ME chooks as an engagement present - they'll get Karen something else. But they are most impressed with me turning into a country bumpkin over the last 18 months they think it's great and they have loved all the veg i've given them

as much as Karen is a good lass who doesn't mind mucking in or getting a bit mud splattered, the garen is my domain, the eating of things from the garden is hers!!!

if we can get a wee bit of the neighbouring farmers field, pigs will follow next year. But in all honesty, karen wants a Hieland coo as a pet.

if i can get that field i might get her a pair of them as a wedding present

I think thats a great engagement present!!!  Something useful that you want too.  You will have to have something equally useful as a wedding gift

I know quite a few farmers sons who have got married, and started up on their own, and the wedding guests gave gifts of a calf, sheep, and farm related things to get him started.  Not that they took them to the reception and put them on the table with the other gifts of course.......the hotel may not like that :D
