I've just cleared a big patch of my veg plot after a great crop of cabbage and brocolli (and cabbage white caterpillas which my chickens loved). I hate seeing bare earth so is there anything useful I can plant now? I was thinking about some garlic. Any suggestions welcome x

You could always go for some green manure and dig it in at the beginning of spring.

Garlic, onions, spinach. If you have some protection you might manage mixed salad leaves.
Just planted potatoes a couple of weeks ago in sacks. They will be moved to the poly as the temperature drops. Am also going to try cabbage and cauli in the poly over winter as Ive plenty of seeds so nothing to lose trying.

garlic, shallots, onions. all good to follow a brassica crop. but make sure you top dress in spring to add some nitrogen.
