Hi folks

Am thinking about trying barrel silage for the first time.

Do you cut and wilt the grass like the big farms before packing or do you just cut and pack straight away?

Cheers for any advice

I've made it a couple of time with good success. No need to wilt the grass, just pack as firmly as possible to minimise air space and make an airtight cover. The plastic wrap that's used for pallets / luggage works well, even better would be a blue barrel with a snap or latched lid.
