Ewe lamb teats suddenly filled with milk? Phantom pregnancy?
« on: August 09, 2015, 05:23:16 pm »
I sold some ewe lambs to a lovely lawn mower home 16 days ago. The lady wanted two more so today I took them over to join the others.

while I was there we noticed one of the original ewe lambs was acting just like a ram! she was sniffing wee, smelling the air, grunting, mounting and kicking at the new lamb. we then noticed her teats where large so caught her up and tipped her over for a closer look.

Just her teats not the udder is full with milk. I striped some out of both and the milk looks and smells as it should, no heat etc.

Could she be having a phantom pregnancy? Could it be one of the other lambs has sucked her? Its odd she was acting like a ram. she's clearly hormonal!

Any ideas?
