crutching out - best value cordless machine ?
« on: October 19, 2021, 02:46:13 pm »
Going to be crutching out the ewes on the next couple of weeks

I have a mains powered (battery but on a lead) clipper but it's pretty heavy and the lead is a pita

Has anyone here tried using a dog clipper successfully on ewes ?

I can't see a battery powered machine being light, because of the battery, tbh

I have a Heinegar Saphir which I use on the sheep as well as the horses.

That looks to be a nice bit of kit, but a good deal outside my price range !

I reckon a dog clipper would clog up easily with all the oils in sheep wool. Why don’t you try a set of jakoti shears instead?

We have a set of Masterclip Outback cordless clippers and it's fab for dagging and can even be used for shearing small numbers. It's not the lightest but you soon get used to the weight.

I can't see our model on their website anymore but it's similar to this newer model: https://masterclip.co.uk/product-range/product/sheep-shears-cordless-hd-roamer-sheep-clipper
