Willow for sale in Fife Scotland
« on: May 19, 2013, 02:55:03 pm »
Willow (both basketry and superwillow) available for sale.  Ideal for a quick growing screen or wind break,  flexible enough to shape into a fedge or living structure. Cuttings useful to make into wattle fence panels. Coloured stems are good for weaving into baskets or wreaths etc.  Check out my web page with lots of pics and ideas on things to make with willow  http://fifesmallholder.co.uk/willow-weaving

You can plant willow at more or less any time and they can sometimes come as pencil size and thickness that can be posted.  They don't take long and I got about 80% success rate with the ones I planted a couple of years ago. They are now over 5 feet tall and with quite a good spread.  Only problem I have is I didn't think carefully where to plant them and they may upend teh one foot high wall alongside  :'( :'(

It's not spandit that's selling the willow - it's Carol - fifesmallholder

I'll be really interested to follow this - I've always stuck to the strict coppicers rule not to cut after the saps risen.. and Ive certainly had poorer results if planting left over willow cuttings this late (when buds have broken).  Got my last cuttings in at end April (which was later than usual!).  Good luck all though - Willow is FANTASTIC!

Hi there, rods are 50p each for a cutting (excluding postage).  I have personally planted willow at different times (sometimes when I didn't want it to grow e.g. for bean poles) and it has sprouted, it would depend of course on how damp your soil is and how much competition there is from weeds etc.  If you were wanting to make a living structure, or fedge then I would keep it well watered.

I am sure it can be posted out, if you email me numbers and types of willow I will let you know availability.  This cold spring has kept things back and the willow has not progressed as far as it would normally for the time of year.  If you want to know what we have please check out my website - there is the fast growing super willow or coloured basketry willow.

thanks
Carol

Hi there, I wondered if i could buy some living willow stems? I know no one has posted on this topic for a while, however I would like to know if they were still available.

I want to make a living willow screen/hedge. About 6 metres long

All the best

:)
