TAS meet
« on: December 15, 2010, 11:39:49 am »
Now that we've saved Palacerigg  ;D, should we arrange a TAS meet there in the spring? I know it seems a long way off but folk are busy so it's always good to get dates in the diary early doors.

Does someone want to contact the park management or shall I? Date in April or before or after? I know April can be difficult if you're lambing. Not the 20th ay 'cos that's the RWAS Smallholders' Show.

Thoughts anyone?

I think we should let them get their breath back before approaching them, as they have only just discovered that the rare breeds are not going  ;D.  I expect that they will have to do a massive rethink.  But once we've got some names on the list for a visit, and the staff have come to terms with things, yes please a meet there would be perfect.  Rosemary, can you organise it please? I would love to come but I would rather it was outside April because of lambing - is March too early?

Whilst I'm here, can everyone who wants to join Friends of Palacerigg Rare Breeds please let me know so I can get a list of names together. You can either pm me from here or via the contact bit on www.palacerigg.weebly.com
Then we can all put our thinking caps on and decide just exactly what our Friends group will do - also what we can do.  My OH and I will contact a couple of other rare breeds places which have had success with 'Friends of'...Groups to get their advice on what works and what doesn't. We should also work with Ruth of RBST as well of course with 'palacerigg' himself.
There may well be some restrictions on what we can do and doubtless NLC will have a say - but seeing as they voted to keep the rare breeds there they will surely approve of our aims - once we've decided on them  ;D
We need to pool our ideas to present them in a rational 'package' for the Parks consideration.  I'm sure there are some things we can do before that, to start with........

...........for starters I think that better publicity especially online is essential so my OH and I will be working on getting the website more interesting - trouble is it takes ages to do, so don't expect anything overnight...Contributions and ideas welcome.  We have used a weebly site because it is free, but it is also a bit restricted in what you can do so there will be nothing too fancy.

Also please remember that anything written on here can be read by the whole world...not that we're planning anything out of the ordinary  :o just  :sheep: :goat: :horse: :cow: :chook: :pig: :&>  ;D

I would certainly be interested in a meeting there - the usual health, weather and clients allowing.
