Rat bait..New rules.
« on: October 27, 2015, 12:30:47 pm »
Just stocked up on some rat bait at my local supplier. This month the law changes. You will need a licence (£400 to take the test ) or you will not be allowed to buy more than 3 kg.
This also applies for buying weed killer. No certificate, no weed killer.

I knew about weedkiller, as my brother is a Greenkeeper on a Golf course, and he had to take a test.  But rat bait?  Our local Ag supplies sell it in giant tubs, although I have never actually asked for one. So if I do, it sounds like I have to fork out for the test before I can have it.  I think I will stick to our cats catching the rats ......

Good job I bought a goodly amount last week then as the rats are starting to invade the place as maize fields are getting cut.

Is this another EU regulation that no-one will take much notice of because it's pointless?

I keep a lot of poultry and poultry attracts rats. I get my bait in 20kg bags and have bait stations around the farm. This time of year the rats seem to move in and I stock up on bait in readiness.
Another seemingly pointless rule handed down from the EU just to complicate farmers lives and cost us more money.
I wonder just how many of these rule makers are farmers ?
