One of the good days !
« on: September 28, 2013, 06:25:33 pm »
We've had a pretty rotten time lately, most of which I don't really need to expand on. but suffice to say life sometimes likes to see what you're made of !! And then to cap it all just over 2 weeks ago our gorgeous little cat "Fish" disappeared. We have a few cats and whilst we are fond of them, they all live in the barn, are quite happy to rub round our legs at feed time but generally prefer to do their own thing. and have a job to do.
Fish however has always insisted on being different, right from her arrival as a tiny kitten just over a year ago. Her favourite spot is my shoulder and I have spent many hours weeding the veg patch etc. with her laid purring next to my neck.
At first we were not too worried as she is an adventurer but when 2 days became 4 then 6 and on into double figures we feared the worst. Not a door was left un knocked , posters put up, vets rung, websites registered on but no word and we could only assume she had met with a terrible mishap. The place felt emptier without her.
and then this morning she was back, hungry, very jittery, minus a claw and with  a half eaten ear.
Through all the recent trials and tribulations the OH has kept tears at bay, and then I appear outside the kitchen window with Fish back on her favourite spot- cue floods and floods ( and I mean floods of tears). Fish now sleeping soundly in one of the dog's beds- one of the good days

WOW perhaps you're not so far off Shygirl- what do you think of this. just a few minutes ago after i'd posted on here I went onto the Animal Search website to cancel the missing cat posting. I had received a message this morning and this was it
"hello- I am so sorry that I haven't seen this post and photos earlier. A friend of mine rang me this morning to tell me about it. I am positive that the little kitty you have lost was in my garden for a couple of days the weekend before last. I went out as she was desperate to come in. I was worried that my 2 German shepherds would get her but she didn't seem at all afraid of them she  was very friendly and when I picked her up she jumped on my shoulder just like you describe. I fed her for a couple of days but sadly she hasn't been back since. Now I know a name I will go and call for her. If you send me a contact number I will ring is any news. sorry I didn't see this before"

Who knowsfor sure, but 2 extraordinary things
1 tavistock is 25 miles away from us and would have involved crossing amongst other things about 10 miles of open Dartmoor moorland
2 until we moved here 3 years ago we had lived in tavistock for nearly 20 years. fish however never lived there and has only lived here.
we'll prob never know for sure but the lady is adamant and we will prob always want to believe she's a miracle cat.

That is amazing, cats do have a sense that we do not use and may well have been looking for  you, could have hitched a lift like shygirl said....

Don't you just wish cats could talk  glad she's back safe and, though a bit battered, not too badly injured

Glad she is back  .

Always scared mine will climb into a vehicle and end up miles away cause she is so friendly and loves strangers  ::) . That would be my guess and them picked on by local mogs.

Still ... home now.

so true about the car, our neighbours cat often had to be removed from our VW camper when we were getting ready for a weekend away!

My daughter hardly posts but dose read TAS a  fair bit, becca1401 ,she is living the dream down  under.......she had a few animals in UK, pigs, ducks and chickens and dogs of course and she also grew a lot of veg and her husband shoots. They now have all sorts and grow all sorts, in fact I have lost track but she has her horse!! she also works for my other down under daughter who is a cosmetic scientist and consultant who travels the world consulting!!!!  My husband hardly posts (he hardly talks) I actually don't think he remembers who he is himself.....I did think about leaving TAS but I feel that people on here are virtual friends!! I would miss them far too much

its funny, you feel like you know people on here but you could walk past them in the street and not know who they were.  :eyelashes:  often the photos are so different to how you imagine aswell.
