leather fire helmet

ok brother just completed on a house he just bought now in the attic he found an old leather fire helmet from the essex fire brigade. Does anyone know anything about them etc any info would be great cheers matty

British Fire Brigades changed from metal helmets to leather when electricity came into common use. Most Fire Brigades have a memoribilia collection or museum usually managed by retired firefighters that would be my first port of call for further info. Good luck.
