Dissertation Questionnaire
« on: March 06, 2013, 03:34:32 pm »
Hello everyone!

I don't know if you remember, but a while ago I asked if you'd be willing to answer a questionnaire on the BBC for me...well, here it is!  If you are able to spare ten minutes I would really appreciate your input.

The questionnaire is anonymous, but if you want to add anything you can always message or email me (Lara.pollard@Students.Plymouth.ac.uk).

Thank you in advance!

Oooooo done it, really liked it loved all the draggy things, so often you can't do that on the ipad, have a look at the ranking page for different providers, it says click for item 9, I ut that last, don't know if you missed something?

I've done it and thought it was a good questionnaire even with the punctuation error.  Couldn't put the channels into any order as I don't watch TV.

I'm disappointed - I didn't get any of the above things to play with and feel I have missed out because of how I responded to certain questions.

I don't know what others said to get the questions they got, but I felt my answers were "wrong" for what the study was looking for.  Which concerns me in that research is meant to be impartial not seeking specific responses surely? One or two questions in my sequence I found quite inflammatory and directive, with a black and white yes/no option which didn't allow for partial knowledge of multiple issues or give an opportunity to explain the answer given, it makes the block of information you're trying to express honestly, very frustrating.

I ended up feeling a. dumped for not being of the same attitude and opinion set that the study was looking to evoke (which is not what I would expect to feel at the end of a piece of academic research) and b. misunderstood as somehow my answers were twisted by yes/no restrictions to complex sets of questions, to achieve the outcome at a. and therefore c. judged by the researcher creating the survey.

Sorry, not trying to be negative but honest given you asked for feedback and that was my experience.  Creating surveys that bring in anything useful is notoriously difficult, I've made a few and tried to interpret many more during my past working lives.  Maybe I'm just overly sensitive - and I don't own an iPad either  ::)

I'll go back out to muck out the hens now, probably the best place for me  ;)

Thanks for the heads up, guys, that specific questions has been sorted now

There is no such thing as a wrong answer; the questionnaire has a selection of different 'streams' which direct you depending on your answers.  It is just a way of trying to filter out the questions that aren't necessary for you.

The questionnaire is geared to get certain data - anyone who has had to go through the trauma of qualitative and quantitative data analysis will understand the difficulties!  It is structured a certain way to aid the analysis of the data, as I am using quantitative analysis the questions are required to be more cut and dry than with qualitative.

Ellied, if you like I will make you a chicken questionnaire that is all sliders to make up for it?

Thank you for being such willing victims, it really is appreciated! XD

Thank you to everyone who has done the questionnaire so far.  I am 47 respondents away from reaching my target, if anyone hasn't done it and feel they have a spare 5-10 minutes I'd really appreciate it if you could complete it!

And if you would like anything in return, please let me know!

I did it, didn't get any fancy questions, but had several answers where reallu none of the options fit. Or it was "weeeeell I suppose this, but really...".

But that is the nature of questionnaires

Knitting wise:

I've got a few little baby ones; hats, booties.  A chick pattern for Easters.  Simple thin cable scarf (from Ravelry) and a few older patterns knocking about.

Card wise:

I've recently started making stitched cards so I've got a couple of easy patterns from online (fieldmouse and flowers).

I've also got lip-balm recipes and will have some cross-stitch patterns around and about somewhere too!  Have a lovely pattern for a Beatrix Potter sampler.
