If I had the room I'd love to be able to buy 50lbs of pork for £1.50 per lb! Maybe the guy doesnt take any notice of supermarket labels which give you the price per lb or kg.

Cheap is an understatement ... you should be looking at more like £75 for a quarter!

Venison straight from the (qualified) stalker is generally ~£1/lb and £4/lb in the butchers. So, applying the same 4 to 1 logic to pork...

venison is 4.77 for stewing steak near me for farmed venison off the supplier are you sure you are getting venison and not  :horse:? or it sounds like your butcher hasn't got a very good market for it

It's been a while...the only way my venison can have horse in it is if either it's actually eaten a horse prior to me shooting it, or if my bullet head manufactuers have started replacing lead with hoof!!  :D

I agree with Pete, £75 per quarter and even that's a bit cheap if you were to include sausages.

check to see if anyone is selling local prices seem to differ across the country we sell @ £90 a side which is pretty much the going rate around here but we do have a guy that sells his berkshire pork for £60 a side near us and another one that sells his for £55.
we can still learn if we are willing to listen.

Everyone wants something for nothing now I also posted on Facebook selling half a pig £90 cause there was 10 pound of sausages included people still wanted more! They can carry on eating horse while we enjoy fresh pork :-)

It costs me over 100 quid to get a pig to pork weight in feed alone. Never mind all the other stuff that has to be paid for, straw, medicines, fuel, slaughter costs etc.

£75 for half a pig is very cheap indeed. Here in Hertfordshire it's £175!

If something is available for an exceptionally low price, the assumption is made by some crafty (nasty) people that whoever is selling hasn't a clue about the product's value, and hence they think that the seller can be convinced that the price is still too high - some people are just really quick to take advantage of someone. He might have been thinking of selling it on for a profit...
