Laundry Tips
« on: December 22, 2009, 09:35:37 am »

I'm sure I read on another thread that the key to keeping chickens happy in the cold was a combination of porridge and vaseline. So, I have fed the girls a big tub of vaseline, and have covered their combs and wattles in porridge.

So, does anybody know how I can get porridge and vaseline stains out of clothing?  ::)

I didn't think Vaseline was coloured?  You don't need to worry about staisn unless you can see them do you? ;)

My mum said to 'iron' the vaseline after covering it with it brown paper to soak uo the stain.
Brown paper I'm familiar with, but what on earth is an 'iron?!'

Yes, you think I'm joking... I don't actually iron unless theres absolutely no alternative. I loathe it, its such a waste of my valuable time.  (sorry, but there it is.  My late mother in law actually ironed socks and pants!)

My mum said to 'iron' the vaseline after covering it with it brown paper

So will that help it to soak into their combs better then?

I've so much to learn - my iron doesn't even have a 'chicken' setting. Will the one for 'delicates' do?  :dunce:
