you're not wrong, roxy! my boyfriend wanted to take the eggs back and throw them at the people at the garden centre! i wouldn't go that far...  :D. told one of my mates who keeps chickens and she said: 'oh nonono! don't buy anything from there!!!!'. well, learned it the hard way. i'll get some chicks and see how we get on. my bob is such a lovely thing i bet she'll foster them for me! and her mum will probably help out too. i'll keep you posted if you want! thanks again, much appreciated! Oh yes, I would like to hear how you go on with the chicks.  Why not go back to the garden centre and say you had no eggs hatch at all.  Perhaps suggest a goodwill gesture of a voucher or free seeds or something?  No harm in asking, and really you deserve something.  Are they eggs from the garden centre or some they have bought in I wonder?

My latest hatch the bantie has got 5 - definitely seen 5 - chicks out of 7, so you see, you should have got something out of your eggs too.

hello roxy, hope you are ok. sorry i haven't replied earlier. i went and bought three tiny bantam chicks and popped them under my lovely bob. she took to the job like a duck to water and they are all happily scratching about in their coop- just looked, they had their first outing with bob! i'm just soo happy and relieved! bob seems to be very content and the chicks are just gorgeous... my daughter fell in love with them. so all good here in the end! hope you are enjoying the lovely weather and all is good at your pad! kind regards gunda

Brilliant!!  So pleased Bob liked her new babies.  Sometimes it works like that, but some hens won't be fobbed off by foster chicks.

My bantie had actually hatched 6 out of 7, so I am pleased with that.  I think the egg that does not hatch each time, is a silkie egg.  So, I now have 12 lovely little chicks to sell in a few weeks.

Ooh, bantam chicks are hatching .......
