Kunebacks surprise me again
« on: September 05, 2012, 10:25:36 pm »
I am in the process of fencing off a few acres for the kunebacks as they begin to get big and have them in a temporary area ... tonight one managed to root under the fence and come a knocking at the door - literally.

If that wasn't funny enough I moved the ark so it blocked off the gap until tomorrow when I can get it sorted and thought nothing of it ...... went out to check them 10 minutes ago and they were all cuddled up together where the ark used to be.

So funny ... tried to take a picture but it didn't come out well

They couldn't be persuaded to move into the ark,so I have moved it back and put pallets in its place until the morning.
Any advice I give is purely based on my experience .... It may not be from 20 years of farming or a book I have read .... however it has worked for me.

There new area will have electric fence as well as stock fencing so  :fc: will be OK

Even now I chuckle

They would have been okay you know  ;) Mine do that sometimes, but always manage to find the arc when it's wet  As for the 'coming knocking' - my Kunes do that on a regular basis  ::) but they're always back in the field before we can open the gate - little bu**ers  :roflanim:

We've had weaners try to sleep outside too which isn't too bad on warm nights, i've seen me many a time on hands and knees crawling inside arks to encourage them to come and go to sleep in the straw and then creeping out when they've all gone to sleep, ;D  OH thinks i'm too soft with them but i'd fret if they were out in the cold & damp.
As for pigs banging on back doors i have sows who regularly on their travels round the house/lawn duff up the back door, once when i hadn't shut it properly found my two oldest girls going thro the kitchen bin troffing who knows what delights :innocent:  and Clover was found in the conservatory after scoffing the dogs dinner when pasing thro uitility room! The worse thing is they never ever forget, and always try again!

Oh and don't they just  ::)
It's not always funny at the time (I'm usually here on my own, with all the kids which makes for complete chaos  :o), but I always end up laughing about it afterwards............eventually  :roflanim:
