Sometimes it's for the best, they're just not right.   You did everything you could and should.

Would anyone have a lamb you could put on the bereaved mum?  If I were nearer I'd give you one of mine!

Thanks folks. We had one set of triplets a week ago but they're doing well with mum and Lyra's not the calmest sheep - I did think about it, but if I take the triplet off and Lyra won't take it, it can't go back to mum either.

Sally, I don't think the lamb was right. I think he must have suffered brain damage - he never moved apart from what looked like a few involuntary head, mouth and limb movements and only bleated twice.

Poor little guy, at least he was warm and fed and I even manage to sort the entropion in his eyes, so he didn't have that irritation.

Mum's still a bit bleaty - she's out with the ewe hoggs, out of ight and sound of lambs, no feed, no licks - so hopefully she'll get over it. She's not a keeper this year, but it would have been nice for her to go out on a high  :(

Feeling a bit paranoid about the three still to lamb  ::)

Don't be.  It's just one of those things, and more likely to be an isolated incident than one of several.

Thanks. Jinx has just had teeny tiny twins. Their wee legs are like pencils. She's loads of milk but her udder is rather low slung (although the teats are small), so we're giving them a wee hand to feed. The lambs are very enthusiastic though and Jinx does love her babies

You could try putting a tiny drop of brandy in the milk
Hope this helps
thanks
