I HATE it too!
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age

Hi Sandy,

Just want to state my feelings towards annoying adverts, I know it's what makes business tick
I just think there can be more tasteful ways of doing it.

What's your worst tv, radio,  ad?

We don't seem to watch live tv much. Mostly we watch stuff recorded off freesat so we skip the ads.  We did see the whole of The Killing I, but not until the next one was being broadcast three months later.

What gets us are the 0844 robot telephone calls.

(I'm afraid the actor who voices that meerkat is a family friend.)

You have just reminded me of one of the big advantages of not having TV.  No adverts.  Don't listen to commercial radio either.

We tend to watch catch up but last night there was a tacky add, it showed a slobbish type man going into a casino and playing machines, eating and throwing his food to the foor, it was meant to be tacky and also supposeidly to be a bit care free  BUT...I cannot remember what it was for...when I see it again I will remember.....I used to hate all the Bingo adds just because they stuck in your head all day!!!!!!! Buy the way, does anyone else hum to themselves most of the day? I made a recording of the dogs and I could hear my effort that was a cross between a whistle and a hum!!!!!! must stop it as I look silly!!

We have one small telly in the kitchen , mainly for news and an occassional good programme such as the stargazing and the Billy Connolly tour of the frozen North.I found the off button years ago and prefer to sit in my 'quiet' room sewing of crocheting. When the light nights come I will be outside. I usually find out about a good progamme after its been on and watch it on the laptop. The adverts are part of the money making for the companies so are needed but if there is any more 'brain dead on ice' or who?come dancing  programmes the telly will finally be out of the window. I prefer the singing penguin.

You are all making me feel quilty.  I have 4 tv''s and also watch on one of the monitors on my desktop.

I love nothing more than settling down to watch a soap with some knitting/crochet/cross stitch.

Having said that I expect it will all change when I finally move to the smallholding. There probably won't be enough hours in the day to watch tv then.

I don't hate all adverts as there are some clever ones but do hate the one that Bangbang mentioned.  There is also a double glazing add that drives me mad.  Why do they have to shout so much?

I know the 2 adverts you are on about . They drive me MAD >:(. I always hit the mute button while complaining and using lots of words I'm never going to be aloud to print ;D.

That's why they keep on showing and making these - they are so awful and annoying that they stick in our minds if we want to or not! BTW, the singer in question got a professional job through this I heard, so there is hope that he'll stop doing ads!  :&>

I do not like both of those adds, still to find out the one i mean but I am sure some of the worse adds stick in your minds the most...Peee ing shake and vac for instance and B***dy, Mc Oven chips.....I used to hum them all the time......now I will be doing it again!!!!!

I heard on the gadget show that now they are going to make ads more interesting for people who download films on a rental basis, not a bad idea if you watch a lot of films, wasted on me as I wonder off during most of them, although a few make me stick in my seat and not connect on the web ::)
