I was the same and thought how strange to feel so sad about a charactor on the internet, just shows how much you can get to know people just from the words they use, I bet we all have a picture in our heads of him, I do!!!
Me too, that's why I sent him the Gandalf avatar - and he chose to use it!

When I met George in real life I ran to him and I slung my arms around his neck and kissed him like he was a long lost uncle cos we get to know people well on here.

God knows what he thought! But he did smile and accept the cuddle :)

Very sad news.  Love and light to wizards family.

I'm a newbie ( well i don't contribute much, just read at the mo) so didn't get to know wizard but saying that I have read through alot of posts and what an amazing legacy to leave.....you don't get info like that in a book.

That's so true.. I found his posts to be so evocative of farming from years past. Full of tips on skills that are nearly gone now. l know he could be a devil mind and said just what he thought and many a clash happened on here but that was just so part of George and I'm sure he said lots of it to get the heated debates going :-))  I'm so sorry we'll never get to open another post from him and go ' oh no George can't believe you said that! ' a grand old gent may our mother earth welcome him back and keep him safe  :'(

Gutted beyond words.................... This is the first time i have cried since my princess was born, and George was always posting a little hello message to Jess whenever we had any posts going.

We have lost a fountain of knowledge, no matter what i used to put on here i could guarantee that George woudl always have an answer, tip or recipe!!! (except fish of course)

I am especially gutted that i never took the drive to meet you George, why is we always think of doing something, or never actually 'Getting round' to meeting up with friends.

I havent been on here for a few days and only just picked up this post and in a way i wish i hadn't, i wish now i had just lived in my dream land that George was on here posting away happily.

I will truly miss you my new old friend and just hope that you are with the man upstairs laughing at this soppy 6 foot 36 year old man sobbing.

Rest in Peace you will be sorely missed, Our love and thoughts with you Kath and family from all at Castle WP (Graeme, Diana & Jess x)

Its Georges funeral tomorrow at 3.40pm is anyone going, apart from me?

If so could we try to meet up beforehand or Ill be going into the crem on my own and I would rather not.

Hubby never goes to funerals so he will be in the car park in his van waiting for me.

I can't be there, too far away, but I will be picking sloes at that time and pause awhile for a little prayer.

I'll certainly take a moment to remember George at that time - and Sylvia, I may even be picking sloes too!

I'll be remembering him at that time. Didn't know him well enough to attend even if I did live near, but he made an impression on me.  :bouquet:

I'm too far away to come too, but it seems somewhat fitting that I'll be working on a tractor at the start of my adventure as George is finishing his.
I too will stop and take a few minutes.
