You can ask for estate agents (1% only pay) and solicitors to lower their charges, if they want the work they will do it as 1% is better than nothing.
Get a load of mates to help you move so you don't spend on removal men, and the phone people have loads of reconnection deals that are free, look it up on the 'net.
Ask your bank to stop any charges if you are overdrawn or arrange for a short term free overdraft, repayable on your house sale.
Ask all of your creditors to stop the charges or adding interest, explain that you can pay what you owe at a reasonable amount per week/month but with charges you couldn't so something back is better than nothing for them. You cant get blood out of a stone scenario.
Sometimes its better to lower your house price to just under stamp duty level to sell it quicker than pay stamp duty at a higher level.
Ask your new house vendor if they will do this to cheapen your new purchase, or ask that if you have to pay stamp duty they will lower their overall price for you to accommodate the duty or leave you carpets and curtains or furniture etc..
Carpets and curtains look at charity shops and for shops that are closing down, again you can find these on the 'net.
Always, ALWAYS ask for a discount for anything you want (services as well as purchases) as they can only say 'no' but in this recession people usually say 'yes'.
Good luck and I hope you can find comfort with your friends here and I hope I'm helping too.
