Barn Conversion Financing
« on: October 25, 2016, 12:17:36 am »
Just thought would share my experience arranging a mortgage to carry out my barn conversion, i have a property with a number of outbuilding and managed to get planning permission to convert one of the outbuilding to groom accommodation.

I went to the bank who i have my property as was looking to remortgage and release equity on my current property but was refused. Was very shocked and a little disappointed as have a good profile etc. I did some research and found a mortgage broker who offered some thing called a self build mortgage (these are the guys i used http://www.firstchoicefinance.co.uk/Index.asp?T=Self%20Build%20Mortgages) this is something i have never heard off before, but is basically a mortgage that is released in chunks as the building work is completed. Everything has gone through and had my first trench of money. Would love to hear any one else`s story on arranging the money to carry out a barn conversion.

While i`m at it also need a roofer for the spring if anyone knows of anyone i am based in stafford.

Nationwide, Halifax, Virgin, and this website has a list of others - http://www.selfbuildportal.org.uk/sources-of-finance

I'm waiting for a call on Friday from http://www.maryrileycustombuildf/  for mine.
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age
