I have been recovering from the shock of being mounted by a cockerel.   :o
Damn thing came round behind me while i was in the pen catching an escapee.  Surprised me I can tell you.  Good news though he was very gentle - no claws
If you cant beat 'em then at least bugger 'em about a bit.

Mainly getting ready to bale, but its now thunder and an awful downpour  at least its haylage and can wait a day or so, now watching the cctv footage of the swallows leaving the nest for the first time this morning , tension , drama, suspense and elation , don't get this on satellite tv   :D
following on, this nest is by the main door to the steading and just above the milking stand so about 7' up .
The occupants every year are used to the traffic of humans , cats and the goats sometimes the horse and then the twice daily milking machine routine, I set up one of the spare cctv cameras we have for kidding watch / general goat entertainment entertainment. These are the four I watched take their first flight yesterday.

Recovering , after baling and wrapping 145 x 60kg haylage bales, yesterday, Mrs Rupert the Bear helping to wrap and stack, drive tractor  and act as mosquito decoy. Why is it all day there is a breeze and then as soon as we start wrapping the wind drops and we are sitting targets for  the little blighters.
Next cut in a couple of days and do it all again .

Mainly laid slabs...

Went to tickle sheep this evening to relax, kids on school holidays has left me more stressed than normal...

Two of this year's ewe lambs are becoming nicely hand tame which is very pleasing...

ours are just leaving as well, metal barn so support diagonals gives them great practice learning to fly up out of harms way, very noisy and entertaining  :)

We, with the help of our elderly fantastic neighbours, have spent all morning in temperatures hitting 27 barrowing 10 cubic metres of wood for our winter heating  down the length of our plot and stacking it neatly in the barn. Phew...pooped.

...getting used to sheep-keeping. My first time dagging and checking feet. And I thoroughly enjoyed it all.

its another cherry-tastic day.  :excited:  I inherited a 30 ft high cherry tree on my new allotment last year and was going to chop it down but it has produced the most tasty cherries and there are even too many for the birds to eat.  I am building a new shed right near it today so getting plenty of fruit today.
Looking for best cherry recipes too if you have any.  :eyelashes:
