I managed to get the back grass cut and the kennels cleaned out, put in fresh beds for the girls - then it rained - quite heavy over here, Rosemary. I came inside and put down flea powder all over the kitchen as I'd found a couple on Allez this morning, had lunch then hoovered the carpets and mopped the floors. Then the sun came out but too wet to cut the front grass so I got stuck into cleaning out the duck shed - yuck! It has gaps at the bottom so the mud and s4lt was seeping in - it STANK! The floor is reasonably firm - a couple of sheets of roofing felt over hardboard. I scraped it all out and put down loads of DE, found a very open pallet that fitted inside and put the nesting drawers and some duck boards on top so the birds are on a dry surface at night. Fresh cut straw in the nests - all nice and cosy - had just finished that and was about to put the muck into the compost heap when the heavens opened and down it came again, I gave up outside work after that! It's just so unpredictable. I'm off to Ingliston tomorrow for the Scottish Kennel club Championship Show so I have four layers ready to go on tomorrow.
