Well my girls got shorn last night

They have gone from this to this and I don't recognise them now

they look like goats

They must be relieved though as its been very warm today.

I passed a field tonight and the poor sheep looked so hot as they had not been shorn yet!!

Wish mine were looking like that bionic - still waiting for the shearer to say that the fleece is rising enough to shear....
All mine are lying in the shade or panting out in the sun....

Who do you use for shearing?

I am lucky in that my neighbouring farmer also shears and travels to do other peoples. He has done a couple of years in NZ where they have very 'hairy' sheep, like my Ryelands so he wasn't phased by them. He did think they were Dorsets though and was pleased when I told him what they were as its another breed he can cross off his list.
He must be quite good as he is entering the shearing competition at the Royal Welsh show. He won there in 2008.

Anke, I am going to give the smallest fleece away to the spinning club that I go to every week so that they can all have a piece to try out but for the rest, 2 coloured and 2 white, I am going to spin them myself.
