Someone a while back asked about how to do "park and draft"; at the time I didn't have a good video bookmarked.

Edited to add that this is one of the best 'get started' videos on spinning - even if you are a wheel spinner, Abby makes a cracking job of explaining and demonstrating drafting which is very useful to beginners

I have now spied a short section on park-and-draft in
Abby Franquemont's Introduction to Spinning Part 1
Fast forward to about 7:14 for the park-and-draft bit. (Or, if you have them, spend 7-and-a-quarter great minutes watching the awesome Ms F make starting to draft and spindle look really easy.)
Note - There's about 45 seconds of 'park and draft' in this vid, which is a great intro to it. In Part 2, Abby goes straight onto spindling with the spindle spinning freely.

I thought I'd call this thread 'Spinning Resources' then we could all add useful links for spinners into it. I'll add a few more now.

I'd like to use this post to bring together some good fleece preparation (skirting / washing / scouring) resources.

And a thread just started on Ravelry - post 2 is comprehensive and demystifying, I think.
Help - I've never even seen a fleece before

Modified to add a link to Yarnmaker Magazine's website's 'Fleece' page, where Dot has posted links to download The Woolclip's excellent leaflets on Selling, Sorting and Washing Fleece. I think these were produced in order to give information to people submitting fleeces to sell at Woolfest, and to those purchasing them too

Not yet - they're uber-expensive. But one day, I'm sure I'll have some... I'm more likely to get combs than a drum carder, I think, although perhaps I just haven't played with dyeing and blending enough yet to realise how much I want a drum carder...

Just an update - I now have English combs, the Peter Teal ones, and I love them. Incredible rovings I get off them

And... I can blend on them!
