Goodness, Sheila - how did you manage to break both feet.  That is dreadful for you.  I hope they mend soon.
You're right about this thread - quite interesting! ;)

Two broken feet! That not only sounds painful but just to think how difficult it must be to get about. Hope you get better soon.
I have some decorating to finish today then I will venture out into the world.

Been an early start this morning - easy when the sun is out like this!!

anyway, been weeding the garlic, onions and shallots out - they suddenly look like they were all nicely planted in equidistant little rows - i am most pleased. some garlic will be getting lifted in a few weeks - and i'm looking forward to it, as it looks cracking!!!

i've been hand polynating my strawbs as i have them in the plastic greenhouse this year (too much damp last year) all the early runners were cut back and i got my wee artist brush out to give them a wee tickle - they are coming along nicely, another week or 10 days and i'll be eating them. I've got 4 different varieties in there a mix of early, mid and late seasons - and they are all looking great - about 45 plants in total - gonna be a strawberry fest this summer - and next year, there will be 90 or so plants!!! YUM!!!!!!

the spuds have been earthed up - i've a raised bed 32' by 4' just for them - so that took a wee while - and i think i'll need to do it one more time next week - but after that, they've had it! (or i've had it - no more dirt and i can't get it to balance any more!!)

it was about 30 degrees in the greenhouse at 9am this morning, so i've taken out my goji, peas, sweetcorn and french beans for the day, but the peppers and chillis are loving it in there and they are looking great, my sainsbury own organic peppers are starting to flower - they look fantastic!!! As are my sainsbury own "british red chillis" I didn't expect either of these to fruit, so i'm ecstatic - and i've a load of saved seed for next year if anyone wants some!!!

the hot wax is showing sign sof flowering and the hot cherries won't be long now.

So, all in all, things are looking good in the garden this morning

Oh, and i had a fantastic breakfast thanks to some fresh eggs i got from Jo Rainyplaces blackrocks last night. Her 4 wee tamworths are the cutest things i've ever seen. And i think i'll be seriously investigating some of them. My love for pigs was confirmed an hour later as i met Andrews 2 slightly older pigs (which are 7/8ths tamworths) Fantastic wee fellows.

Now, loading up the car and off camping!!! woohooooooooooo

I had to have Lucy, one of our 2 rabbits at the vets for 8.30 this morning. Last Tuesday she started going to the vet as she was breathing funny and had a very yucky eye. Well after 4 trips to the vets, injection after injection and eye cream in she is no better a week later. She is luckily enough happy enough in herself and still eating but just not responded to any treatment. So, yesterday our vet contacted the Animal Hospital in Edinburgh to draw from their "world renowned" knowledge.

So, Lucy is away in to the vets to get her chest and skull X Rayed. They think there may be a mild strength of Miximitosis,  luckily she had been injected against it. They are very concerned at "knocking her out" with the bad breathing she has but they have to make an effort and get her on the right path. A worrying time now this waiting especially being a week later with no improvement.

When I returned from the vet's I was out talking to the ponies when I heard a clatter and then the bleats from Freddy and Gizmo(12 wk old British Toggenburg goats). The monsters were on the roof of one of the sheds - 12ft high and were chuffed as punch when dad(me) saw where they were. I was terrified they would try and jump to get to me when they saw me but then the fun did begin.

We have 4 sheds in a row, all different heights and the highest one is a flat roof. No idea how they got up there in the first place but somehow they did - that's goats for you I guess. I shouted on Kenny for reinforcements and without too much trouble Freddy came to us and we got him down safely. Gizmo on the other hand was having great fun running round and was not for coming down. Eventually Kenny had to climb up and chase him and then hand him down to me. They both came for a cuddle as their ordeal was over but somehow I just wonder when next we will see them up there again!!!

I think my 4 year old must've been a mountain goat in a previous life  ;D
It'd certainly explain the fearless love of climbing she's got (Oh, and the horns LOL!)

Lovespigs - if you ever venture to Scotland go up to Guardbridge Hotel - James and Kenny are excellent 'mein hosts', and their animals are wonderful, meals are good too!

Hope Rabbit is OK, James.

Oh and it is bucketing with rain and my birds all have wet feet again - and they won't flipping go inside so their backs are wet too!  Ducks don't mind though.

James, if Sandy wants more ducks i'll give you some eggs and you can hatch them out for her.  Will ask her and let you know.
