Beetroot Cylindra Seeds
Beetroot Cylindra is a reliable beetroot variety producing delicious, dark crimson cylindrical roots. This is a superb variety introduced to replace Forono, which has now been discontinued.
Cylindra beetroot seeds produce delicious, high quality, dark crimson, cylindrical roots which have a long storage period. Late ripening, slow to bolt, and shows good disease resistance.
For early crops choose a bolt-resistant variety and sow March-early April. For use in summer and autumn make successional sowings of suitable varieties from late April to July. Store roots in dry sand, soil, or peat for winter use. (12-16 weeks maturity.)
Twist off foliage when picking, as cutting will make stems bleed sap. Beetroot roots are rich in potassium and folate plus some vitamin C, and known to improve the improve the immune system. The tops of young beetroots can be used as Spinach.
