Beetroot is a relatively easy to grow vegetable, producing reliable crops in most soil types with a little care and attention. Beetroot has is a versatile ingredient in the kitchen so you can always find something to use even the heaviest crop. It can be used in soups, salads and chutneys, is excellent served as a hot vegetable (roasted is best), grated raw in salad, and and the high sugar content means that it can be used a good base for home made wine!
Beetroot can be grown from seed or from young plants.
