Yes we have 7 cockerels but as I'm in the middle of the town, the rule is.. as soon as they crow - they go. Our oldest is a 16 week old Orpington, currently he has the most pathetic doodle going! In fact it sounds more like a moo! But it's very quiet, so I will keep him a while longer and hope to get some fertilised eggs from the motley crew, and the same goes for the young speckled sussex (6 weeks) we have just now - I would like to have some fertilised eggs from them before they go into the pot, but it will all depend on noise levels. My neighbours are lovely and love that we keep chickens but I want to keep it that way. ;)

I wonder where folks shop who say £ 1 is expensive...Lidl freerange are 99p, that was my guideline. I just about break even with feed, bedding, worming, mites and lice meds...I charge more for duck eggs (1.50) as they are enormous and I have to feed them for a few months in the winter without eggs. :&>

I sell my hen and duck eggs at £2 a dozen and I can't keep up with demand.
