Long Lasting Fertiliser
« on: March 14, 2018, 05:33:11 pm »
Hi everyone,
My fields grow well each year but I think the vigour is slowly going out of them. They're my grandads fields which have never really had much done to them other than thistle control.

Someone was saying how good seaweed extract is for reconditioning and lasting a good while. I've been browsing around various companies and there are all sorts of different mixes.

Has anyone got anything they've used which worked well? I only have sheep on the fields, but just want to rejuvenate them a bit,

As above. Get a soil test done and then you know you are getting the right dressing for the fields.

I haven't yet but I'm going to. Someone else suggested lime - and it would help to keep the buttercups down. Can you recommend a good test kit?

For your seaweed meal, this company does a good product, for direct application to pasture: http://www.hebrideanseaweed.co.uk

Also, see my reply here: www.accidentalsmallholder.net/forum/index.php?topic=91469.0  for a longer term fix.

Contact a firm that supplies lime and they should test it for free and tell you how much you need.
