Quad Bike Broken Axle
« on: January 23, 2017, 08:05:46 pm »
Hi all,
I have a Honda trx 450 quad bike 4x4 and its rear axel has snapped. I was turning in the field when the rear left wheel came off .

On close inspection the axle has snapped about an inch from the end. Luckily no injuries sustained.

Now I am no mechanic and I was wondering how easy it would be to replace should I attempt it myself? Or is this a job for someone who knows what they are doing?

I dont think anything else is damaged within as it drove perfectly well back to the shed on three wheels!!

Or does anyone know of anyone in Aberdeenshire nr Mintlaw that does such repairs?

Any advice or thoughts would be much appreciated.

Thanks    Fishy

Is it the outer casing or the drive shaft that has broken ?

You could have a trike instead of a quad!  :coat:

Sounds like a shaft and not the axle.

You can weld the shaft back if it not done any more damage - normally when the shatf goes it fooks the whole braking and suspesion system.

You must have a local agricultural engineer fixing farm machinery.. they're bound to be up for fixing honda quads as well.

Well local to Fishyhaddock is Station garage ( Graham Gammick )  motor bike nut . Or A, M Philip at fraserburgh .
Snapped end , but which end ?
Diy if competent , not to difficult but a bit time consuming.
