Grouse aren’t raised & released so no, I wouldn’t say the glorious 12th has anything at all to do with bird flu.

Oh, and it's still summer. Do people think there will be restrictions again this autumn?

Yes there will be restrictions again without a doubt. It's just a case of when. Badly affected areas will be locked down sooner than areas with fewer outbreaks but I'm guessing most of the UK will have some sort of restriction in place by beginning of December.

And yet more notifications from Scotland today. The last 8 in a row have all been in Scotland.

I don’t know what it is but it isn’t random chance.

I’ve spent the last week getting a new area ready that I can cover when necessary.

Who has concidered dispatching their birds before the next lock in?
Linda

Don't wrestle with pigs, they will love it and you will just get all muddy.

Let go of who you are and become who you are meant to be.

I am reducing laying stock down to 3 large fowl and 3 or 4 bantams (tbf the fox "helped" reduce bantam numbers a couple of months ago). I used to have over 70. Any youngsters are being rehomed and oldies despatched. We currently have 30 table birds that will all be processed by the end of September, the Christmas flock of turkeys and their parents. Plus a small flock of geese and 3 pet ducks. Once the Christmas turkeys are gone numbers will seem very small indeed.

Only have three ones left now ( fox visit, old age etc) so they'll be in the small run
Getting some more rescue hybrids in a few weeks so that we have eggs during the winter. They 'll be in a different run.
Hoping to hatch more in the spring! Most of those should be in the freezer by next autumn

Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age
