PUPDATE!
The pups are fully vaccinated now so are able to get out and about more.
They have had their first swimming lessons, helped out with the sheep etc. On Sunday we took them into Malton and had a pub lunch! While this was all in the name of socialisation, we realised that we had not been out for lunch together for 4 years! Yesterday we took them into Helmsley to see the sights and sounds there and bumped into some friends who took us for a coffee. I've never been so well socialised  :roflanim:
Bertie will be going to his new home this week (his new people have been up at their estate in Scotland!). It will be sad to see him go, but it will be much easier to spend one-on-one time with the two we are keeping.
Edward has been sleeping in the house for the last few nights. He's been clean and quiet all night. I didn't get up until 7.30am yesterday and he was still out for the count!
I have high hopes for this little chap.

Edward's first camping trip!
I took Edward and one of the spaniels to Cheshire Game Fair this weekend.
The little chap didn't make a peep in the car all the way there (2 1/2 hours). He met loads of friendly dogs and lots of other pups his age (3 other lab pups and 3 springers by my stud dog). Everyone wanted to snuffle him so this was all fantastic for his socialisation. He saw chainsaw demos, steam engines, the hunt hounds, motorbike displays, people in wheel chairs, kids in push chairs. You couldn't have asked for a better experience for him. The only thing that phased him was a plastic water carrier which he gave a good telling off!
He slept next to me in the tent and woke me up 5 times on Saturday night- 4 times sleeptalking and once rolling around on his back giggling! I had to wake him up at 7 in the morning though to take him out. Really proud of the little chap.

He sounds adorable and rather like our greyhound when we go camping! She sleep talks, snores, twitches, wiggles and usually hogs the whole air bed despite her own massive bed being next to ours!

Edward's adventures continued this weekend. He came with us to Chatsworth House and had another very exciting day. He saw fairground rides, met an enormous St Bernard puppy, got fussed by everyone and sat to watch the team gundog working test. To top his day off we sat and watched the Red Arrows. Down at the gundog scurry events we met up with some of his family and had Edward, his mum, his sister, his grandmother, his aunt and this uncle. Wish we'd taken a family photo!

Edward update. The little chap's 'play training' is coming on leaps and bounds. He's ever so easy, he is walking to heel on and off his lead, sitting and recalling to the  whistle and retrieving nicely. He did wee in the kitchen this week though. My fella had him in the kitchen with him and when I asked him when he had last wee'd he didn't know so entirely his fault, not the pup's  ::)
Yesterday he had his first trip to the beach which he loved. He was in and out of the sea with the others but didn't go deep enough to swim.
Loving this little fella ever so much!

Can I ask about your pack? How is it keeping 7 dogs? Do they all live together in harmony or do you have separate runs for them? The most I've had was 3 dogs at one time (retrievers) and we had 2 GSD's after these but we're considering going to 4 or 5 this time, from our current one (GSD) so I'm trying to figure out if there is much difference needed in housing arrangements or which sex to keep if this helps things go more smoothly. Any tips/pointers much appreciated  :)

Beautiful Labs, and Edward is adorable.  Best of luck with him, and it is nice to hear of a breeder going to so much trouble in raising their litter and vetting potential new owners.
My working line German Shepherd is to be used at stud (by a vet in Denmark!) next year and she also goes above and beyond the usual to ensure her pups are well raised, well socialised and ready for lives in their carefully vetted new homes.  I am looking forward to the adventure (and will of course be having a pup myself).

We actually have 6 dogs. One of ours isn't in the picture (she strongly believes that the camera will steal her soul!) and two in the picture were just in for boarding/training.
We have 3 dogs and 3 bitches. To date they have lived very happily together. Two of them are house dogs and the others are kennelled at night. During the day they are all together all day, walked together, worked together or separately and fed together. Obviously they have to be separated when a bitch is in season. We have never had any fall-outs, but we do have a pending dominance issue with the 2 older entire males (Murphy and Juke). Normally one (Juke) is very submissive to the other (Murphy), weazeling round him, licking his face, rolling over- all very 'puppyish', but if I take the submissive one out alone, we have really rigid posturing from them both when I bring him home. The submissive one will eventually snap out of it, weasel around a bit and harmony is restored. Since we had the pups, the rigid posturing has increased. Its fascinating if you are into dog psychology. Basically, Juke feels the need to posture at the male puppy. If Murphy sees Juke posturing, he takes it personally and will posture around Juke. Juke can't submit as he is posturing at the puppy; que viscous circle. Fortunately this doesn't last long as the puppy has usually bumbled off by this point and Juke can shake himself off and submit to Murphy. So as I've said, no fall-outs to date, but it could happen. I guess we are lucky to have very dominant and very submissive types. I think if you were unfortunate enough to have two alike, you could have more problems. We are also lucky that, with the exception of the litter of pups who have rocked the boat a bit, we can generally bring any other dogs into our pack and know everyone will be fine after 2 minutes of grumbling, submitting etc.
I couldn't say keeping just bitches, or just dogs would be better, because ultimately it is down to individuals. If you are looking to get more, I would strongly advise to do it gradually and assess personalities.
