Incubating humidity question?
« on: March 18, 2010, 05:42:44 am »
Hi :)
I have a Rcom incubator ive just turned on, the temperature is set at 37.5C but what should the humidity be?
should it be as high as 70? and do I keep the humidity the same for 21 days?  I know I stop turning eggs at 18 days but Im not sure if the humidity should change?
Thank you  :) :)
suomi.

no it should be about 55. goinh up to about 60 for the last few days. very high humidity can cause very poor hatching. the same with low humidity.

My machine says 45% for 18 days and 65% for the rest.  Although the fact I'm quoting a machine probably tells you I'm no expert!

Thanks evryone :)
So it seems there is no "definite" temp! so Ill stick it at 53 humidity and put up to 65 for the last 4 days.
I will let you know how it goes......

you need it at about body temp and a dryish to slightly damp conditions. just think what the conditions under a hen would be.
