Peebles Show 15 August

Considering whether or not to go to Peebles Show - understand it is holding a progeny show this year for Blue -faced Leicesters - has anyone been in recent years?

Great show

Huge numbers of sheep (over 1200) - Champion North Country Cheviot Res. Texel

Minority breeds: Shetlands (good numbers with some good tups), Zwartbles (only two flocks one of which was leggy and narrow).

Some cattle, plenty of donkeys, alpacas and camels plus poultry and rabbits (and horses - now that's where the money in the Borders goes)

you guys have all the best shows. Here in Wales there's not a huge choice of good shows, only dog shows am afraid ::)

you guys have all the best shows. Here in Wales there's not a huge choice of good shows, only dog shows am afraid ::)

Yes that as well, but I never get to see rerally interesting breeds of sheep and cattle, all commercial and virtually no traditionals >:(

and of course Denbigh & Flint later this week where you can see:

Welsh Mountain, Black Welsh Mountain, Cheviot (south), Jacob, Zwartble, Suffolk, Shetland, Border Leics, Bluefaced Leics, Lleyn, Texel, Beltex, Charollais, Shropshire, Kerry Hill, Badger Face, Greyfaced Dartmoor plus classes for other Lowland (bound to be some Ryelands), Hill (Radnor) and Primitive breeds. And Halfbreds. Now that's not a bad selection.

For cattle Welsh Black, Hereford (traditional), Shorthorn plus four continentals and may be in dairy Holstein, Dairy Shorthorn, Jersey, Ayrshire and perhaps Brown Swiss
