my mum recently gave me frying pan (or was it sautee  ;D) made from what I believe is stainless steel. Bliss to work with. Throw away all the non-stick rubbish! And I love my cake tin with a glass plate at the bottom - and my silicone scraper to get every last drop of batter out of the bowl - and my cd-player for audio books as I spend so much time in the kitchen nowadays... ::) :&>

Hello all Rosemary dear.Thats what  Kath says but she does pluck the game for me.With this COPD the dust in the feathers is unbearablefor me.NFD do you  know I have tried 2  one with a copper bottom and one without I cannot even boil water in either terrible things but no doubt you use yours on a AGA or electric plate I use gas and the flame tends to lick up the side and turn the shiny silver a real pretty blue. Now I have 2 Tefal coated ones "Magic our Maurice"Claude used to say in another program ;D You have seen them on TV the pan with a Red Spot in the bottom absolutely superb in my kitchen.Sage I have a Braun Blitzer a gift from the No5 son and his wife It is the complete kit the engine detaches from the tools and it's main attachment is a roto chopper (blitzer)whisk beater a jug with knives in it makes my smooth pattie smooth like bought stuff wonderful.I also have a toy chopper we call Ethel because Kath's sister Ethel gave us the bluddi useless thing she said. It makes bread crumbs a treat Place some stale bread pieces and some cheese in and make the crumbs to spread on top of any dish that needs a golden topping roast in the oven. It's just a s shaped knife in a 500ml cup that spins round Tell you about Vigo later

Actually the best thing I have in my kitchen, apart from me of course lol , is a plain old wooden handled peeling knife.

I love my cooker too as its a rangemaster with 6 gas burners/rings, 1 is a wok burner, 3 electric ovens, a hot plate that cooks burgers, chops, steaks and kebabs etc and a ceramic plate that keeps sauces/gravy or plates warm.  Its quite a professional cooker really

I take the knife everywhere I go that I know I'm going to cook, that includes the special school at which I volunteer as I cook and pay for celebration lunches for the kids and teachers sometimes for up to 70 people. I love cooking BTW.  ;D

Jackie the one your Mam had with the orange string wrapped around the handle.I think on refection Muther had 2 one with orange string and one all metal she has been gone many years now I would think brother Bill would get the knife drawer and upend it in the skip So they have long gone.Same as the knife cleaner Don't need that the knives are S/s nowadays Like candle sticks and Kelly Lamps to go to bedwith and snuffers Alladin Lamps They have all gone round here What use are they click and the room is lit Not take the paraffin lamp in the porch and trim the wick cos it smuuked the glass last night then fill it wi paraffin ready for tonight.Ev yer seen the price of paraffin. When I was a boy Lunns used to come on Wednesday and fill the paraffin drum we had 2 so when one was empty Muther used t start the full one Paraffin was 1/6d a gallon and if you took 5 gallons it was 7 bob instead of 7/6 Now not being very good at sums I reckon 5 gallons is 22.75 litre and at £2 a litre in the local garden center would cost £45 for a fill up with Es so Blue Its unreal I think.Am Gooin afore I upset me sen me little greenhouse heat will have to stay wrapped up in the shed ??? :farmer:

George you definitely like your kitchen gadgets. I've got a Kenwood food processor, more than 10 years old now but does everything I need. But it's a hassle to get out and put all the attachments when I only want to whisk up some mayo, so the hand whisk is a godsend. Like Miri, nothing electric to cook with, everything is gas flame and no microwaves either. I have one microwave, that I got off freegle, but that's purely for dyeing wool!

I am agreeing with Rosemary, best thing in my kitchen is my O/H. What would I do without him! He used to cook a lot and is quite fanatical about having everything just right (as in herbs etc) where as if I dont have something I will just miss it out, he will go and get it. I am very pleased that he is starting to cook a lot more now, I came back from showjumping with my daughter today to Duck with all the trimmings, it was lovely and I was starving!  :)

As lovely as my OH's food is  - and he used to cook a lot more when the kids were little - I usually spent half a day tidying up afterwards, major redecorating needed each time, lol. And to be honest I rather cook myself and clean up than only clean up  ;D :&>

NFD hello I know you won't believe me I would get Kath to tell you its true.In fact I may start a new thread in Coffee shop allied to this post.I LIKE TO WASH UP.I put 1 squirt of detergent( I'm not going to give Fairy Liquid a free ad:) in the bowl while the  kettle boils.Get the dish mop pour the boiling water over the liquid and stir it up.Get the cups/mugs and wash them stand on the drainer to dry.Get the next dirtiest things and wash and continue until all is done.Should Kath wash up she puts that much cold water in it wont melt the grease off the plate, and don't tell me you don't have greasy plates at you sink.Kath all ways dries the washed crockery though I only wash. With out she is unwell of course which touch wood is quite rare but I shall be on double duty later this week she is her left hand Carpel Tunnels operated on.So when she comes home later in the afternoon she will have a large bandage on and wont want to get it wet at least she had better not ??? :( :farmer:
