Must admit i did think the sheep would be happier and healthier left to get on with it but as my neighbour has been lambing for 25 years and me only one it would be somewhat cocky of me to comment. I thought it might be because he has mules and i have an old trad breed or that maybe i had been lucky in my first year with sheep who don't need help and quite a few of mine are 9 years old so they've done it a few times and know alot more than i do!

Mine are mules and I am a complete novice with only 4 last year and 7 this year, I have a very experienced friend on call, and another on phone!!! and I make full use of them both ;D   but I do believe that no matter how many ewes you have to lamb you only intervene IF necessary, and thats what I'm sticking to! I assume there was hand/arm washing/disinfecting? we never saw that.

Personally...I thoroughly enjoyed 'Lambing Live'...even though I might do some things a little differently...I found it interesting and entertaining...like visiting a friends farm...thanks go to the BBC for showing the public what working on a farm is like (even if it was a little too clean and tidy)...and the comments and sentiments expressed by the Bevan family echoed my own thoughts and emotions about rural living..."its a way of life...not a job"

Great programme...well presented...I hope we can look forward to similar such programmes in the future.
