Is this lumpy wool on my sheep?
« on: June 17, 2015, 10:13:34 am »
My ryeland ram once sheared  has small bald patches with yellow scabs which flake leaving ping skin underneath. And I think possible is loosing fleece in patches on his legs. He seems to be itchy as is scratching on posts a lot. Was hoping to self diagnose, I think it sheep scab (mange mite) or lumpy wool? Any ideas and should I call a vet? It's very mild and small lesions.
Rare breed sheep, ducks, geese and turkeys.

Take a skin scraping to the vet - different beasties need different meds ;)
Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing
