Injections

Vaccinating goats tomorrow, I generally put it in neck, but farmer friend suggested front oxter.

Where do you put it to cause least stress for me and the goat

This is an under the skin jab

pygmy goats, gsd, border collie, scots dumpys, cochins, araucanas, shetland ducks and geese,  marrans, and pea fowl in a pear tree.

I do it over the shoulder (as mine don't go for commercial meat it won't reduce carcass value), while they are munching on the milking stand... least stress all round. Just done all of mine...

I always did mine over the shoulder and also on the milk stand although when they retired ,I just lent over them with my knee in front and that was it, job done. I am of course talking about subcutaneous injections of 6monthly lambivac.  :thinking:

I do mine in on the flank just behind the top of the front leg / elbow

When giving injections under the skin in a commercial milking parlour we always did it in the loose skin just behind the elbow.

This is exactly what we do- on the front leg.
