YES - In safe hands - no corruption at all...
« on: October 13, 2009, 07:29:23 pm »

QUOTE's  FROM SKY NEWS

Mr. Brown had earlier sought to set an example by immediately complying with a demand to pay back £12,415.10 he claimed for cleaning, gardening and decorating his second home.   :o :o :o

Mr Brown will pay back over £12k

But the Prime Minister has faced growing reluctance among fellow MPs to follow his lead.

At a meeting of Labour MPs the perceived unfairness was again raised by backbenchers.

They made clear their anger to Chief Whip Nick Brown and Labour's deputy leader that they've been asked to provide backdated receipts and mortgage information that had previously been handed to the Commons authorities.

Ms Harman assured MPs that there was now a process ongoing whereby concerns could be raised. Those who received a letter from Sir Thomas have twenty days to respond.

So there you have it - the Prime Minister has taken, in expenses, the average persons annual pay, to feed the running of HIS SECOND home - how corrupt can it get -

nowt but a common thief

And they expect poor tax payers to vote for them - I hope your all taking this in folks - its appalling!!! :o :o

he is also selling off billions of £ worth of OUR assets , as the link explains. This is an attempt to claw back some of the huge deficit that he has left us with .... they may blame the banks and the global economy , but it was HIM, GORDON BROWN who made it possible for the banks to do what they did . HE was the man in charge of the UK finances all through this time, 12 years !!!. Oh and by the way , for all the hoo har that GB and Mr Darling kicked (and I use the term very loosely , as he had very little to say about it really , well he still had his own hand in the cookie jar didn't he ? )  up about these terrible wan... er....bankers , the bankers are still paying themselves huge bonuses just as they did before ... it hasn't changed a thing ..... oh and also ... Gordon Brown is trying to get it so that any MP's who lost their seat over expenses , can get back into parliament without any hassle , slate wiped clean .... and the adverts still come on the tv ... benefit cheats ...we are watching you !!! we are going to get you .....well someone has to pay for his cleaning and his second home , or in Mr Darlings case his second , third and fourth homes....

cheers

Dont forget that the leader of the other side has the biggest mortgage available on his second home, which when he sells it will net him a nice profit.

(I dont vote for either of them)

There are several things here.

One is that any government (= party) that stays in power for more than about 10 years gets stale and some if its chickens come home to roost. Stay in power too long and you get caught out. I think this illustrates something important. MPs always plan and operate on the basis that they do whatever is necessary to avoid getting thrown out at the next election and anything that happens after that is secondary.

MPs' pay of is - in my opinion - generous. It's about £70,000 pa I think which looks pretty fair. However, a lot of MPs think they are worth more than that. They can also hold other paying posts (like directorships) while being an MP so it doesn't have to limit them too much. However, the expenses story was allowed to develop into a second source of income.

Anyone who has worked in an office where people claim expenses knows that some people fiddle their claims to make a bit on the side. So the whole expenses story looks smelly (bad metaphor but I think you know what I mean).

There is a view that hands that touch money get dirty. So this is my solution.

I realise that they have to be able to spend time in their constituencies AND in central London. So there should be a hostel for MPs near Parliament. My kids both lived in student hostels when they were at college so why can't an MP have something similar? There would be a standard room with standard furniture (bed, desk, wardrobe) a sink and access to loos and baths, plus a shared kitchen. Even if all MPs decided to use this facility it would only need 600 or so rooms. Pretty standard size for a student hostel. No money would change hands.

If MPs needs secretarial support, secretaries would be supplied. Again, no money would change hands.

And so on.

However, you can bet that the House of Commons (i.e. all MPs working as a group) will decide to give themselves some amazing payment system once again and they are missing the point that they look like a cheating bunch of .... (insert suitable description!)

This is all to the detriment of good healthy strong government that we - the voters - can trust and support.

I could continue (rant over)

I know just the place for them...

Well my memory of it is a bit old -  :o  but back in the 1980's when the wind blew all the trees down in London. My then business partner was staying at his "Gentlemans Club". ::)

It was, I think, the RAC Gentlemans Club  ??? it was on Pall Mall,
everything was old and pretty basic, and my business partner had to ask permission  :o
for me to enter as I was a "Female" Director  ::) :o ::) of his business and needed to be at the meeting  ;D
Yes this is only 20-30 years ago - not back in the dark ages - my god -
permission for a woman to enter - politically correct then too ::) ::)

Its the sort of place that they deserve anyhow - I was much better of staying at the Hilton, thats for sure  ;D ;D ;D

Another life back then so it was  ;)

Anyhow there were trees down all over - and at the Elephant and Castle there were one of those big hoardings with an advertisement on it - wh=ished i had had a camera
it said some insurance companies name and "We don't make a drama out of a crisis"

What was funny was that a 200 year old oak tree was
smashing through the middle of the sign - priceless  ;D ;D

Big trouble is for all of you who are going to vote (I'm not allowed) - what and who is going to be the smallest evil for the future of the country and the world?  Very scary prospects and I don't tend to pessimism normally :&>

when you vote for a party , they normally have a leader , yes ? ....well if you vote for that party , you expect that person to be the PM if they win ...yes ? therefore you voted for that person to be PM ... sad but true most people vote for the person they want most to be PM  .... how many people voted for Labour when Michael Foot  was leader ??? GB got in the back door ....he was not voted in as a leader of the labour party ... So in fact we nearly always elect the PM ...by choosing the party leader we like most .....  ::) ::) ::) ;D   simples ....

cheers
