Orkney - anyone live there?
« on: February 18, 2014, 12:13:52 pm »
Hi all - I am stuck here in Dunbeath at present, and there is yet another problem with the scooter which I wont bother to go into now, but I may just have to leave it here.  We will have to see

Does anyone live on Orkney, or know of anyone who does.  If I have to leave the scooter I may well be looking for someone who would perhaps drive me round to some of the interesting places and sights.  I would pay of course, let me know if there is anyone you can think of  :fc:

It's a shame you are not asking in a couple of months, we have bought a house in Orkney but havent completed yet.

I don't know anyone up there at the moment either. Everyone I have spoken to has been really friendly. It might be worth asking on the poultry keeper forum too, I was told when I joined that there were a few members from Orkney.

There are also lots of Orkney facebook pages that might be worth a try if you are on facebook. Orkney Merkitplace and Orkney Communities would be good places to try.

I hope you find someone!

If you're on Ravelry, JaneKAL has recently moved to Orkney and is establishing a flock of Boreray sheep.  She's very busy at the moment with the Ravellinics so I wouldn't bother her until the Winter Olympics is over ;)
Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing
