All on my own!
« on: September 09, 2009, 01:43:22 am »
Had to get out of bed...dreadful pain in my right leg...trapped nerve I think...couldn't sleep and the more I tried the worse the pain felt...so came on here to catch up...but no one else awake...lucky sods!

Seriously though its given me a chance to read a few threads and make a few replies so not a waste of time...isn't TAS great...lots of people from a wide variety of places, who will probably never meet, all sharing knowledge and experience, cracking jokes and playing games and offering comfort, care and solace to each other...what a privilege to be a part of this forum...thank you all.

Yes, I accept that some of us occasionally demonstrate a little less tolerance than others and sometimes our passions for a particular subject can cause friction, but that's life and we are all the better for being different...but on the whole, the majority of people on here share the same passion and conviction for smallholding and selfsufficiency and actively try to be of help to others...I think that's great and Dan & Rosemary should be congratulated for creating a community website of such high caliber...my thanks to them for providing a source of help and advice and a place where I know I am amongst people who I would be pleased to call friends.

Good night to you all....(No response required, just felt it was worth writing down)

Sorry about the pain, hope its better now.  Its the diversity and the mostly tolerance that makes this site so good (and of course all the people who run it, use it, read it).

Morning John, hope your leg is feeling better now. Well said about this wonderful site, I know many people share your sentiments. I am going through a phase at the moment where I am not sleeping too well, I waken at some ridiculous hour and once I am awake that's me. However, I force myslef to lie in bed till at least 6.30am and again force myself to believe that I enjoy this time. Being up in the middle of the night is a lonely and boring time, TV is crap at the best of times so at least you enjoyed your time on here.

Farmer, not sure what job you had in the past but you sound a great person and would have been a wounderful college as you are very stable!!! I like this site too and I like the odd disagreements,  we all are so different and thats great providing people do not storm off and sulk when others do not agree. A good row can clear the air!!!!

Hey Farmer,

Hope you are feeling a bit better.  Like James I have trouble sleeping too. Alarm is 5.30 so I really resent being awake in the night >:(  so my thoughts go out to you.

Anyway, what lovely words and so true. Thank you for sharing.

The quality of the forum is down to the folk who post. Dan and I just put a framework in place - it's you who make it what it is. And thank you for that.

Can add my thoughts? I moved here from Aberdeenshire (3 hours from my previous home) almost a year and a half ago and if it hadn't been for finding this forum I wouldn't now have such great friends, Sandy & Steve, Dan & Rosemary(& Lorna), Jane, Carol & Graham, Andrew & Janis, Lu & Bob and many more - I'm sorry I missed you John - I went off to bed around 1am, about half an hour before your post.  I hope your leg is better today, pain during the hours fo darkness is much more frightening and debilitating than in daytime.  I often have cramp, so I get up, walk through to the kitchen to make a hot drink and take the dogs back to bed with me for extra comfort.  Mind you they do take up a lot of bedspace so I don't always get back to sleep ;D ;D ;D.
Take care
Annie

John please see the doctor about the pain in your leg as it could be something that could be treated easily. as for the forum, I waste more time on here then I should but I love it!

Me too - just missed you last night - logged off ten minutes earlier.

Hope you feel better soon - I have also spent a lot of time reading and we do have about 30 people on here that are really good friends and nice people - and consistent - and there when you need them - and funny ;D

oops, sawwwyyyy - you were in my mind when was I typing that and one of the dogs  started to shout, went to see what was wrong and when I came back just finished a sentence, was about to check what I'd written when Hester started again so posted and went to see why she was still barking.  But I did say there are many more good friends I've met through this forum, including you and Tam - I can see my Christmas Card making taking over my life. ;D ;D ;D When do we start out group again - in 4 weeks time?  ;)
