My ex was a real country boy, a farmers son and he had loads of them, one was "it's Black over Bills mothers" I wounderd who Bill was for ages,
I also remember a well to do female friend saying that a young boy's dad was a "Merchant Banker" I thought to myself, what a good job!!!

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

Work to live don't live to work (not managing this at the mo  :'( )

It has two chances... (usually some plant or other refusing to grow)

Oh I could go on.  :-[

A few well known horsey ones........

You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink.

A good horse is never a bad colour (very true)

No foot - No horse ( also very true)

My favorite one is: "The harder you work, the luckier you are". (I tell this to people a lot when they see my farm and tell me how "lucky" I am. I say, luck didn't have anything to do with it. You make your own luck.

If your dog thinks you are the best do not seek a second opinion!

My goal in life is to be as good a person as my dog already thinks I am.

Handle every situation like a dog does, if you can't eat it or play with it, just pee on it and walk away
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age

I have three I live my life by... Politness costs nothing but ignorance can make you a poor man; Never rely on luck to change your life and Don't demand respect, earn it!

There are many, many more old sayings and words of wisdom that I employ on a regular basis, but these three have served me best of all over the years.

He that would live in peace and ease, must not speak all he knows nor judge all he sees.
