Do you have tattoos?
« on: January 24, 2014, 05:50:31 pm »
Hello!

Long time, no see! I am really curios if some of you have tattoos (you, not your pet). Don't laugh, I'm looking forward to getting a new tattoo (somehow pet related), but I need to ask something about it. I'm not 100% I'll have it, but I'm curios if someone else has something related. I want to get a horse tattoo because it means freedom, speed and strength (found more about it here). This will be my first tattoo, so I'm not really sure about it. How it goes and such.   :unwell:

One more thing - hope I am in the right section, because this question/topic is kinda offtopic.

So far I have four tattoos, two of them horsey related! I have a little unicorn bust on the top of my arm and a pegasus on my shoulder blade.

If your worried about the pain, I would say, don't be. They do hurt but none of mine hurt enough for me to not want it done, you just kind of get through the pain and then forget about it after! Places that are especially boney tend to hurt more, like lower back and feet.

Good luck, I love tattoos

No.  I do sometimes think they look good on other people, but wouldn't want one myself.  Also I am a massive wimp.

I have 3 tattoos. I have 2 elephants on my arm ( used to work with them when I was a zoo keeper). One I drew myself, the other is of one of the elephants I worked with
Also have the name of an ex on my lower back ( as a reminder that no f^*#er will get away with s**t like that ever again  ).
If I had another one it would be something to do with chickens  :chook:

though they've never appealed to me I was always ambiguous about them, then one day a woman I worked with (we were both accountants) got one and I thought to myself, if accountants are getting tattoo's they've pretty much lost their cool.

I have a tattooist friend and I admire greatly the work he does.  However, I think they are an aberration and would not have any myself.  I have a beautiful skin that my parents gifted to me when I was born, so why would I want to spoil it!  JMHO
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age

I agree with Doganjo, I think they are mutilation just like piercings of various body parts, ears, noses..other bits

My dad had a swallow on each hand worked, done when he went to sea at 15, he said as he got older and went for 'serious' jobs, he felt that the tattoos where a disadvantage.  He always said to me, 'if you ever get a tattoo, get it in a place where it is up to us to you if it is displayed or not'.  I took his advice and have two tattoos a devil on my belly that has grown with my stomach and shrunk with my stomach and grown with my stomach (weight on, weight off  ;D ).  I hadn't seen it for 5 years and one day there it was looking at me in the mirror,  :roflanim:  Who needs a malory belt.  Then I had odie from Garfield done on the top of my thigh.  I had these done in my late teens / early 20's.  I would like to get another couple of tattoos that actual have  a more deeper meaning but alas the cost cannot justify the tattoo being done.  Especially as I'm saving to have my own small holding.  My advice would be think long and hard about what you want and where you want it.  :)

A tattoo that you have done when you are young will look hideous when you get old , they always look cheap and nasty, they are not art, just tribal markings for people that want to belong to a misguided crowd, In my eyes it is a form of self harm that speaks volumes about the person .

Personally I am not a fan of Tattoos or piercings, never fancied either but can see the attraction for some people.
I hate to see people covered in them to the point you cant work out what any of them are  :-\
My theory is if you where meant to have pictures or holes on/in our body you would be born with them  ::)

I am up to 8 self mutilating tattoos at present and will no doubt have more.
each one marks a time or event in my life and are personal to me. I care not a jot what other people's opinions of them or me are,  its my body and my money and I will do with it as I please.
having said that, its a permanent thing unless you consider removal at a later date, but if you are thinking about that then dont get one to begin with.
men have told me they find them a little intimidating until they actually talk to me and realise they are just part of me and I am not in the least bit intimidating.  It hasnt prevented me from working in healthcare and social services.
whatever you do, make sure you love it as its going to be there longer than you are! Oh and it only hurts for the first 5 mins, my partner painted my nails for me when I was having one of my larger ones done  ;D
oh and I have various piercings, ears, nose, tragus, belly button...........dont make me freak  ;)
keeper of goats, sheep, pigs, ducks, chickens, turkeys, dogs, cats, goldfish and children, just don't ask me which is the most work!
